The UAB School of Arts and Humanities is the home of a variety of disciplines whose faculty and students work together in learning through original research and creative work in many fields. We create visual art, music and theatre performances, videos and original poetry and prose. We work in African American studies, art history, communications, English, foreign languages, philosophy, music and theatre history and evaluation. As preparation for employment and for graduate education, as well as in support of other programs at UAB, we encourage students and faculty not only to explore their own disciplines but also to create multidisciplinary opportunities for learning. The School is committed as well to providing experiences beyond the classroom and the studio so that students can be part of the larger community which they are preparing to enter.
